How It Works
How Our Custom Table Process Works
At Kovara, every piece starts with the slab. We keep the process simple and hands-on so you can see, touch, and choose the exact wood that will live in your home. Whether you’re designing a family dining table, a conference showpiece, or a one-of-a-kind coffee table, we follow the same 3-step process to get you from idea to finished piece.
Step 1 – Choose Your Slab
Visit our DFW studio or browse online. We’ll help you understand grain, tone, character marks, and sizing.
Step 2 – Design the Details
Pick the dimensions, seating capacity, edge style, and base design. We’ll guide you to a balanced, timeless look.
Step 3 – Build, Finish & Deliver
Our team flattens, sands, oils, and ceramic coats your table in-house. We deliver and set it up in as fast as 7–14 days.
Crafted for Real Homes and Real Living
Each built to last piece is finished to withstand everyday use, and designed to elevate your space.

Meticulous Cleaning Process
Remove and bark and debris from all of the edges and micro cracks.
Detailed Sanding/Finishing
Final sand all of the sides of the wood up to 180 grit. Depending on the species and what finish being used will help determine how high we sand up to.
Epoxy Pours
We stabilize all of the cracks and voids. We use several different methods and products, but mostly use epoxy products. All the voids, cracks and deteriorated wood will be completely stabilzed to assure a solid slab.

What is a live-edge slab?
A live-edge slab is a solid piece of wood that keeps the tree’s natural edge instead of a straight, machine-cut side. Each slab has its own shape, grain pattern, and character, which means no two pieces are ever identical. Live-edge slabs are ideal for tables, counters, benches, shelving, and custom projects where you want a one-of-a-kind look.
Do you offer design help?
Absolutely. If you’re not sure what size, species, or base style you need, our team can help you design the right piece for your space. Share room photos, dimensions, and inspiration, and we’ll make recommendations on slab selection, layout, edge treatment, and finish.
Do you deliver locally?
In many cases, we can arrange local delivery or in-home placement for finished tables and large pieces. Local delivery availability and pricing depend on your address and the item size; we’ll confirm options during checkout or as part of your custom quote.
How do I maintain a live-edge slab?
Keep your slab clean by wiping it with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals and never leave standing water on the surface. Maintain stable indoor humidity where possible, and use trivets and coasters to protect the finish from heat and moisture.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept major credit cards and Shop Pay through our online checkout. For larger custom projects, we can also arrange payment by invoice through our secure online system.
Do you accept returns on slabs?
Because each slab is unique and often reserved for specific projects, all slab sales are generally final. That said, if there’s an issue with your order on arrival, contact us right away and we’ll do our best to make it right.
